Our mission is to continue the intellectual work and advance the vision of Dr Kalu Research into the presence and development of Christianity, hosting scholars and practitioners at the center, build a research collection of books, act as a repository for research materials and documents related to Christian presence for use by scholars and researchers.

The Center shall actively engage in the collection:

  • Of relics and artifacts from targeted areas of Christianity research
  • Personal papers of  Dr. Kalu, and other notable academics  in African Christianity and church building
  • History and background of significant church leaders
  • History of the establishment of churches  in indigenous and urban areas
  • Rare and notable books in the field 
  • Study materials written by individuals and church leaders on Christianity and African culture 
  • Synod papers and ecclesiastical documents for preservation

Research and Archival Activities

The centre is first and foremost a Research and Archival centre. The centre’s main focus is to promote research by scholars from all over the world on Christianity in Africa and Africa in the Diasporas. The activities developed facilitate this main objective.

Training and Staff Development

Offer specialized training in primary data collection, cataloging, use of archival materials and grant writing

Collection and depository

The Center actively engages in the collection of relics and artefacts, personal papers, obituaries, and orations on church leaders, Church building, programs, institutional projects, and plans; books and committee study materials written by individuals and church leaders on Christianity and African culture, general assemblies or conferences, synod papers, and ecclesiastical documents for preservation.

Conference, Symposia, Seminar

Host conferences, symposia and seminars that help to further the goal of the center.

Workshop

Workshops are mounted for target audiences within the ecclesiastical formation and in the society like, Evangelists, pastors/priests, church workers, policy makers, governing officials, counselors, administrators, youth, health workers and practitioners. Workshop topics cover issues that impact African contextual practice of Christianity such as on intergroup interaction, traditional Religion, changing religious climate, urbanization, practice of Christianity in other parts of the world, understanding tenets of other religions like Islam, or other Religions new to Africa

Periodic Publication

The centre shall have special publications on themes of primary importance informed by conference discourse with topics from solicited contributors within a year of the conference in reference
