Abia State University Uturu, also called ABSU is a state-owned public higher institution of learning established in 1981 in the former Imo State as Imo State University, Uturu, Okigwe; located in the Eastern region (Igbo heartland) of the country, where skill acquisition and entrepreneurship constitute the culture of the people, to actualize the University’s slogan of ‘One Graduate-Two Skills’.
ABSU is in the state where Dr. Ogbu Kalu was born and partly raised. It was his dream to give back to his community and so before his death, he had donated over 300 books to the ABSU library. Those books would be transferred to the Center’s library within the next two years.
ABSU, under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor, Professor E. Uche Ikonne, honored the life and vision of Dr. Ogbu Kalu by generously giving a 400 Square foot building and generously supporting it’s launch in 2019.
